Michelle has 22 years of experience in health care as a nurse, with experience as an advance practice nurse for the past 11 years. Her education includes a B.S.N. from Oakland University in Rochester, MI; a Master's of Science and Certificate for Infant, Child, & Adolescent Health Nurse Practitioner with a Critical Care focus from The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI; and a Post-Master's Certificate for Family Nurse Practitioner from Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, MI.
Michelle is licensed with the State of Michigan as an R.N. and as a Nurse Practitioner. She is also certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Her experience includes Pediatric and Adult Critical Care, Trauma, and Family Practice in addition to the Allergy specialty field. Michelle is proud to be a member of the Asthma Coalition of Northwest Michigan. In addition, Michelle is on on the executive board of the Traverse Area Chapter of the Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners. She is also enthusiastic about her continued pursuit of up-to-date, continuing education in Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. Michelle is committed to a long and fulfilling career as a Nurse Practitioner providing individualized, hands-on Patient Care with our team here at Grand Traverse Allergy.
Michelle is most proud, personally, of her marriage of 20 years to husband Jon and of her two sons, Jonathan and Patrick. She enjoys watching them excel in school and sports. Michelle's favorite past-time is spending time in the summer on or in the water but she enjoys many other outdoor sports and activities in all four seasons.
Laura began her career in nursing 33 years ago. She has earned a A.D.N. and B.S.N. in nursing from Gwynedd-Mercy College just outside Philadelphia followed by her MSN in Nursing Administration from Northern Michigan University, and finally a Post-Master's Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) from Grand Valley University. Laura has been in advanced practice for 12 years.
Laura is also licensed with the State of Michigan as an R.N. and FNP. In addition she was certified as a FNP through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Her experiences include pediatrics, medical/surgical, and emergency nursing. Laura is also a nurse educator at Northwestern Michigan College and a BLS instructor for the American Heart Association. In addition to her clinical practice, Laura is an advisory board member for the Michigan Center for Nursing, an Ambassador for the National League for Nursing, and a contributor of two nursing text books. Laura loves working with patients and providing education to help them improve their ability to better understand and care for their allergic conditions. She is proud to be a member of the Grand Traverse Allergy team.
Laura also participates in several community activities. She is the president of the Elk Rapids Business & Professional Women's Club, Vice Chairperson of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Pastoral Council, Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee and Education Commission at Sacred Heart. Laura has been married to her husband, Kim, for 32 years and has two grown children, Karl and Michelle. Laura’s outside interests include knitting, boating, golfing, and spending time with family and friends.
